Woman Arrested At MAL; Claimed To Have Firearms, Demanded To See Trump

A woman was arrested Monday night after she approached President Donald Trump’s Palm Beach home, Mar-a-Lago, and told Secret Service agents she had an “urgent message” for the president and that there were firearms in her vehicle.

It’s the latest in a series of security incidents involving Mar-a-Lago, the president’s permanent residence in South Florida, Newsweek reported.

Over the years, several people have been arrested after trying to get onto the property—some under false pretenses, some carrying electronic gear, and others claiming they had something important to tell the president.

Mar-a-Lago has been a frequent location for President Trump’s high-level meetings and official business, and it presents unique challenges for law enforcement because of its semi-public nature. It’s not just the president’s home—it’s a functioning club with private events and guests coming and going.

According to Palm Beach Police, 49-year-old Caroline Shaw walked up to the south gate of Mar-a-Lago and told Secret Service she needed to speak with Trump urgently. She also told them there were firearms in her car.

She was detained immediately while Secret Service and Palm Beach County deputies searched the vehicle. That’s according to the arrest affidavit.

Shaw was then arrested on two misdemeanor charges—one for having an expired registration and the other for a suspended driver’s license. Court records show she pleaded not guilty.

A judge ordered her to stay away from President Trump, Mar-a-Lago, and any other Trump properties.

Palm Beach Police Sergeant Michael Ogrodnick told Newsweek the department has also filed for a risk protection order against Shaw, and that it’s currently under review.

The U.S. Secret Service told Newsweek in an email Tuesday that it’s working closely with Palm Beach Police. “While the incident had no impact on our protective operations, we take these matters extremely seriously,” the agency said. “This arrest is being handled at the local level and we remain thankful to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department for their quick response and partnership.

“Questions regarding this arrest should be directed to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department.”

A White House official told Newsweek President Trump was briefed on the June incident.

Shaw is due back in court on July 14, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.

This comes just a few weeks after another man jumped a wall at Mar-a-Lago, claiming he wanted to “spread the Gospel” and marry the president’s granddaughter, Kai.

According to detention documents from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Anthony Thomas Reyes was taken into custody by the Palm Beach Police Department after he tried to enter the president’s Florida property illegally.

Reyes, who was previously arrested over the New Year’s holiday after attempting to enter Mar-a-Lago illegally once more, reportedly told police that he wanted to enter Trump’s resort to “spread the gospel” to the president and marry his granddaughter, Kai, according to the police report about the incident.

According to records from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Reyes was first detained on trespassing charges and released on a $1,000 bail, which was then increased to $50,000. There may be federal charges.

At the time of the occurrence, the president was in the nation’s capital.

“An adult male was arrested early Tuesday morning by the Palm Beach Police Department for unlawfully entering the Mar-a-Lago Club property in Florida. Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms. U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene. Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing,” the U.S. Secret Service told Fox News.

The Palm Beach Daily News said that Reyes had attempted to infiltrate the president’s Florida estate before his detention on Tuesday.

According to the local outlet’s arrest report, Reyes was warned by Palm Beach police for trespassing at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Eve when Trump was there.
