“Just inspected the site of the new Ballroom that will be built, compliments of a man known as Donald J. Trump, at the White House. For 150 years, Presidents, and many others, have wanted a beautiful Ballroom, but it never got built because nobody previously had any knowledge or experience in doing such things — But I do, like maybe nobody else, and it will go up quickly, and be a wonderful addition, very much in keeping with the magnificent White House itself. These are the ‘fun’ projects I do while thinking about the World Economy, the United States, China, Russia, and lots of other Countries, places, and events. It will all be good, maybe even GREAT, depending on who is the President of the U.S.A.!” the president said on Truth Social.
He first mentioned the ballroom in February when he was signing the “No Men in Women’s Sports” executive order in the White House’s East Room.
“This room is packed. You know, I offered to build a ballroom. I’m very good at building ballrooms. I build beautiful ballrooms, and I actually offered to build a ballroom for the White House. I was going to build it right there,” he said.

“I was going to build a beautiful, beautiful ballroom like I have at Mar-a-Lago, as beautiful as it can be. It was going to cost about a hundred million dollars. I offered to do it, and I never heard back,” he said, claiming he made the offer to the administration of former President Joe Biden. “So, I’m going to try and make the offer to myself, you know, because we could use a bigger room.”
He reportedly made a similar offer to then-President Barack Obama, but was also rebuffed.
He said that the project “would cost nothing,” and “I’ll spend the whole thing myself.”
On Wednesday, Trump hosted thousands of current and former administration officials at the White House in what turned out to be one of the largest events ever held on the South Lawn.
The crowd included Cabinet members, staffers, agency heads, and their families — all gathered to celebrate Trump’s return to the White House.
The President walked out to thunderous applause and cheers of “USA!” before delivering remarks, thanking those who served during his first term and welcoming those now part of his second.
