NEW: ‘Boatload’ Of Iranians Caught Trying To Enter The U.S.

A “boatload” of Iranians were intercepted after attempting to enter the United States via the Bahamas.

The revelation, reported by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), comes after Iran threatened vengeance in reaction to the U.S. assaults on Sunday, which destroyed three nuclear enrichment sites. In a statement, the Florida Republican stated that the possibility of “sleeper cell” strikes by Iranian operatives is genuine.

“Am I concerned about sleeper cells? Absolutely. This is NOT a conspiracy theory; it’s a serious national security threat,” she told Florida’s Voice News.

The number of individuals on the boat remains unknown, and it’s unclear if their dispatch coincided with the assaults.

However, opponents of former President Joe Biden have previously pointed to the previous administration’s lax border security and asylum policy, which allowed more than 1,200 Iranian nationals to enter the United States over four years.

“The likelihood of violent extremists in the Homeland independently mobilizing to violence in response to the conflict would likely increase if the Iranian leadership issued a religious ruling calling for retaliatory violence against targets in the Homeland,” states a bulletin released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Monday.

“It is our duty to keep the nation safe and informed, especially during times of conflict,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict brings the possibility of increased threat to the homeland in the form of possible cyberattacks, acts of violence, and antisemitic hate crimes.”

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, which requires the United States Coast Guard to assist in the apprehending and detainment of illegal immigrants caught at the border. The Guard’s operations complement those of DHS and US Customs and Immigration Enforcement, who are charged with detaining at least 3,000 illegal immigrants every day under a new White House order.

Fears of a radical Islamist terrorist in the United States were fulfilled early this year when a crazy man slammed his vehicle into revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing 14, including a friend of the British Royal Family. Investigators discovered unsettling audio of Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, praising ISIS and urging fellow Muslims to undertake lone wolf strikes within the United States.

Attorney General Pam Bondi was questioned Monday in a House budget committee about Iranian nationals who entered the country illegally under the Biden administration, following the Trump administration’s warning that the conflict with Iran has escalated danger levels in the US.

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, inquired whether the attorney general was aware of the number of Iranian nationals convicted of crimes in the United States. Bondi said she was unclear, but more than 1,000 people entered the nation during the last administration.

“And I can tell you, we are on high alert, and everyone is looking at that very closely,” Bondi said.

During President Joe Biden’s tenure, the US Border Patrol apprehended 1,504 Iranians at the southern border, with over half of them, or 729, being let into the US, according to a senior Customs and Border Protection official.

Bondi’s comments reflect those of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which issued a notification the day before stating that the Iran crisis “is causing a heightened threat environment in the United States.”

The DHS mentioned the prospect of radicals in the United States “independently mobilizing to violence” if Iranian officials called for it. The agency also said that hacking and antisemitic actions may escalate.

Gonzales questioned Bondi about the threat posed by Iranian “sleeper cells,” to which the attorney general said that she could “not talk about that in this setting.”
