WATCH: Florida Senator Passes Out While Speaking at Press Conference

Florida Republican State Sen. Ileana Garcia passed out while speaking at a news conference with leaders in the state.

While speaking at the event alongside Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, Garcia spoke about environmental laws before she could be seen turning to DeSantis to inform him that she was suddenly not feeling good.

“Governor, forgive me,” she said. “I’ve gotta sit down because I am not feeling well.”

Garcia collapsed to her side as soon as she finished her words. Fortunately, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was there to grasp her and keep her from falling to the ground. As he hoisted her up, he kept saying, “We got you.”

Other authorities hastened to bring Garcia a chair and drinks.

The film then turned to a moment later, when Garcia felt good enough to stand. As she returned to the platform, she received a brief round of applause. She then continued her speech with a joke about the minor emergency.

“Are you kidding? This was my moment,” Garcia said as members of the audience laughed. “Nerve-racking, but this was my moment, and I so appreciate your grace, Governor DeSantis.”

DeSantis appeared briefly in the video clip posted online when he walked up to the podium after Garcia got back up.

Soon after the scary moment, DeSantis expressed his support for two pieces of legislation enacted by the Florida Legislature aimed at protecting Floridians from illicit chemical exposure and atmospheric manipulation.

“Today I was in Miami to support SB 700, which bans local governments from unilaterally adding fluoride to public drinking water. In addition to this, I also reiterated in Miami that Florida is not a testing ground for geoengineering,” DeSantis said.

“We already do not permit this activity, and I will be signing SB 56 to prohibit the practice in our skies. The Free State of Florida means freedom from governments or private actors unilaterally applying chemicals or geoengineering to people or public spaces,” the Florida governor added after the scary event with Garcia.

A clause that prohibits local governments from unilaterally adding fluoride to public drinking water is included in Senate Bill 700, which is also known as the Florida Farm Bill.

The act is a response to a warning issued by the Surgeon General of Florida, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, in November 2024, which cautioned against fluoridating community water owing to the possible health hazards, particularly for pregnant women and children.

With the passage of Senate Bill 56, the state will no longer be able to provide permits for geoengineering and weather manipulation initiatives. In addition, the measure makes it illegal to inject, discharge, or disperse drugs or chemicals into the atmosphere with the intention of influencing the weather, temperature, climate, or the amount of sunlight that is present.

Those who break the law are subject to accusations of a crime of the third degree, which can result in a jail sentence of up to five years and penalties of up to one hundred thousand dollars.

In addition, the measure contains important mechanisms for enforcement. Beginning on October 1, 2025, the Florida Department of Transportation will require all airports that are owned by the public to report the presence of any aircraft that is equipped with weather modification or geoengineering equipment.

Additionally, during the summer of this year, the Department of Environmental Protection will develop a public reporting system in order to discover any infractions that may have occurred.

The implementation of these regulations reaffirms Florida’s dedication to safeguarding public health, maintaining individual choice, and guaranteeing that no government or corporate may unilaterally impose environmental or chemical dangers on the general populace.
