No Regrets: Black Voters Tell CNN They’d Back Trump Again

CNN was in for a rude awakening when it interviewed a group of black voters who said they voted for President Donald Trump in November

Three black voters in South Carolina were interviewed by Van Jones, a former member of the Obama administration, and got answers he may not have been anticipating when he asked if they regretted their vote or if they would do it again if given the chance.

“One thousand percent, absolutely yes,” said Kyasia Kraft in a video that aired Thursday on “Anderson Cooper 360,” confirming she’d cast her ballot for Trump again.

Detra German, who had a similar voting pattern, said that she also would vote for the president again.

“Now, in the future, I am not a die-hard Democrat or die-hard Republican,” she said. “If there were a Democratic candidate who was more aligned for me, then I would vote Democrat.”

Another voter, Seth Dawkins, said that he was not always a Republican and that his family is “super Democratic,” and if he had the chance to vote again, it would be for Trump.

“For me, I like the border,” he said. “I just don‘t like the idea of someone coming here illegally and getting benefits that can serve my community. So that‘s the reason why I support him on that border policy.”

“When you think about the border, you think about people coming here who are getting more help than people who live here, who are born here?” Jones asked Dawkins.

“I got that perspective not from news channels, I got it from social media,” the voter said. “TikTok is like a holy grail. We even see it with the things that we learn about the United States government outside of the United States. People are showing Americans, hey, look at what‘s going on. Do y‘all know that your government is doing this? Have you seen this? Have you looked at it from this perspective?”

Kraft said she is “sick and tired of seeing Black people sit there and complain about something,” and not doing anything to change it.

The president enjoyed historically high support from black male voters in the November election—nearly 24 percent of Black men cast a ballot for him. But a new survey found that support among that demographic for Trump has since almost doubled.

The latest National Voter Trend (NVT) survey found that 42% of Black men now approve of Trump’s job performance, according to polling firm Cygnal.

The firm’s president, Brent Buchanan, stated that the data indicates working-class, diverse voters, who were crucial to Trump’s November victory, are now showing greater optimism about the country’s future.

“Throughout the election, we highlighted just how far out of touch Democrats had become with the American public, and now after Trump’s victory and rapid action on his campaign promises, it’s clear they haven’t learned much,” Buchanan said.

“Take the ticked-off, young, diverse, working-class voters that propelled Trump to the White House for example. They were a key constituency that gave Trump an edge over Harris as white voters stayed flat in their margin for Trump,” he added.

Trump’s growing support among Black men is part of a broader trend where Democrats are losing backing from key voter groups. The poll reveals that only 40% of voters view congressional Democrats favorably, while 54% have an unfavorable opinion.

In contrast, congressional Republicans are nearly evenly divided, with 47% favorable and 48% unfavorable. John Rogers, Cygnal’s Director of Client Strategy, attributed Trump’s success in addressing major voter concerns as a key factor behind these numbers.

Voters overall are reacting positively to Trump’s policy actions. The poll shows that inflation and the economy continue to be the top concerns for 32% of voters, with many attributing improvements in outlook to Trump’s economic policies.
