As we go through life, we sometimes feel self-conscious about certain things that make us different from others. This feeling is no different for young Derek Prue Jr., an 8-year-old boy from Alberta, Canada.
Derek was born with a large birthmark on his chest, which, although harmless, made him worry about what other kids might say.
But little did Derek know that his father had a heartwarming surprise in store for him. Derek’s dad wanted to make sure that his son never had to suffer from a lack of confidence again. He went to great lengths to show Derek just how special and incredible he is.
One day, while they were all playing in a hotel swimming pool, Derek’s dad revealed his secret. He got a giant tattoo that perfectly matched Derek’s birthmark. When Derek saw it, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He was shocked and delighted at the same time. He fell back into the pool with a huge grin on his face.
