A person found a picture of a vintage vacuum cleaner, and shared it online. As it is looking different that the usual vacuum cleaners we are using today, it had puzzled the minds of the social media users.
Until the vacuum cleaners using in our time are invented, people were using these vacuum cleaners from 1800s. In the 19th century, people started to give more importance to hygiene, and cleanliness. Therefore, with the industrial revolution and the raising technological improvements vacuum-like devices started to being used in a bulky and inefficient way.
These metal vacuum cleaners are large, and has canisters as the picture is suggesting. They were manual rather than digital, and it needed to be pumped constantly to keep the suction. There was a mechanism connected to the handle, which would be used for pumping.
It was helping to clean, but it was taking a lot of effort. A metal vacuum cleaner by Ives W. McGaffey, the “Whirlwind,” was an important example from 1960. It was a hand-cranked device to create suction. It was a leap in the technological improvement of the vacuum cleaners.
Decades later, these high effort cleaners, are now turned into little round robots, which would require no human effort for them to clean. Simply, you can program them from your smart phone, and voilà! The cleaning process is starting.
